From 2006 to 2010, I was a councillor for Lee Green ward in the London Borough of Lewisham. During that time, I blogged regularly and in 2009 I won the Tim Garden Award for the Best Blog by a Liberal Democrat Holding Public Office. My blog posts from my term of office are archived here in case they prove of use to former constituents, or to those who share my annoyance with faulty street furniture
The extensions to the Hither Green East and Old Road/Bankwell Road CPZs started operation today – Monday 18th January 2010.
Our experience is that many residents (and their visitors!) get caught out during the first few weeks of a new controlled parking zone.
The zone will operate from 9am until 7pm, Monday to Friday, so during those hours, if you’re going to park on Kellerton Road, Manor Lane Terrace, Northbrook Road, Murillo Road, Remrandt Road, Abernethy Road, Lochaber Road, Aislibie Road, Lenham Road, Lampmead Road, Brightfield Road, the section of Manor Lane north of the railway bridge or the section of Taunton Road between Manor Lane and Wantage Road, make sure you’re displaying a valid residents or visitors permit, or in a pay and display bay with a valid ticket.
Last year, Lewisham Council made a £1.3million profit from running controlled parking zones. It is clear the Council has an interest in issuing as many fines as possible – make sure you’re not a victim!
If you need to purchase parking permits, you can do so through the Parking Shop on Rennell Street in Lewisham Town Centre (open 8.30am-6.30pm).
Finally, we’re happy to help if you do encounter any problems – give me a shout.
