Is this the best-gritted stretch of pavement in Lewisham?

From 2006 to 2010, I was a councillor for Lee Green ward in the London Borough of Lewisham. During that time, I blogged regularly and in 2009 I won the Tim Garden Award for the Best Blog by a Liberal Democrat Holding Public Office. My blog posts from my term of office are archived here in case they prove of use to former constituents, or to those who share my annoyance with faulty street furniture

Town Hall GritJust back from a meeting at the Town Hall and was amazed at the amount of grit they’ve found to spread just outside the Civic Suite at Lewisham Town Hall.  My colleague Cllr Phil Peake from Forest Hill Ward had also noticed, and posted the pic on the right via twitter earlier today.

If anyone knows a better-gritted stretch of pavement in Lewisham, I’d be surprised!

i assume you would complain if it wasnt gritted at all, local council just cant do anything right can they

Dave, what I’m complaining about is the amount of grit the Council has wasted in front of the Town Hall – there’s loads of excess there. They’ve done that at a time when residents have been told not to expect their roads to be gritted and the government’s asking councils to cut the amount of grit they’re using. I see from the front page of today’s SLP that I’m not the only one who finds the Council’s priorities a little strange.

do you actually know where the council had found the grit for the front of the town hall, how about you look a little further into how and where it came from before you start these meaningless stories.
the council have their own maintenance companies that supply the grit for the buildings, it is not take from the stock used on the streets and roads.
