From 2006 to 2010, I was a councillor for Lee Green ward in the London Borough of Lewisham. During that time, I blogged regularly and in 2009 I won the Tim Garden Award for the Best Blog by a Liberal Democrat Holding Public Office. My blog posts from my term of office are archived here in case they prove of use to former constituents, or to those who share my annoyance with faulty street furniture

You might remember that last year I gave a plug to the appeal for ex-St. Winifred’s staff and pupils to come forward with their memories, stories and photos of the school for a ‘Memories of St. Winifred’s’ publication.
The work’s now complete and the book is at the printers and expected to be ready later this month. The editorial team are delighted that so many people contributed to the project. If you’d like a copy of the book, please email Rose Gibbs, Co-Ordinator of the Editorial Team at roseanngibbs {at} onetel(.)com with your postal address.

We would like to purchase a copy of your book, I will be sending it to Mrs Marjorie Mc Carthy, her husband Daniel was the care taker at the school until 1973.
Hi im mark, I have been the caretaker of St Winifreds for the last 10 years. Today i was shown a photo of the pool area that was at St Winifreds in the day of it being a school. This has opened my eyes at the history of the estate and now that there are 54 flats on the site. The pool area is still there but it is now a washing line area and you can still see the large crack in the wall that holds up the bank. Do you know of a site were i can see old photos of the school so that i can do copys for the tenants to look at.
Kind Regards Mark Russell/caretaker St Winifreds.
