From 2006 to 2010, I was a councillor for Lee Green ward in the London Borough of Lewisham. During that time, I blogged regularly and in 2009 I won the Tim Garden Award for the Best Blog by a Liberal Democrat Holding Public Office. My blog posts from my term of office are archived here in case they prove of use to former constituents, or to those who share my annoyance with faulty street furniture
I wandered up to Mountsfield Park this afternoon for People’s Day. You may remember last year, the Lib Dems had a rather tame tombola on our stall. This year, some bright spark decided it’d be a good idea to stick our council group in the stocks and charge the public 50p a go to throw wet sponges at us!
So after Pete and Duwayne had been duly soaked, it was my turn…
I have to say, being put in the stocks is one of the more bizzare things I’ve ended up doing since being elected – possibly even topping the Santa episode! All in a good cause though – got to pay for those Focus leaflets somehow!
