New yellow lines on Wantage/Southbrook Roads

From 2006 to 2010, I was a councillor for Lee Green ward in the London Borough of Lewisham. During that time, I blogged regularly and in 2009 I won the Tim Garden Award for the Best Blog by a Liberal Democrat Holding Public Office. My blog posts from my term of office are archived here in case they prove of use to former constituents, or to those who share my annoyance with faulty street furniture

We’ve been contacted by the Council regarding a small amount of double yellow-lining they wish to install at the junction of Southbrook and Wantage Roads.

The proposal is to install 10 metres of double yellow lining in either direction round the junction of the two roads.  Double yellow lines prohibit waiting at any time,  and officers consider that this will:

  • ease access routes for emergency services and refuse vehicles;
  • improve road safety at by ensuring that drivers’ sight-lines are not blocked by parked vehicles;
  • improve crossing for pedestrians.

Letter have been sent to residents in the surrounding area, and notices are in place on lamposts.  Any comments should be sent to Keith Gasson at Wearside Service Centre, London, SE13 7EZ by 8th July.  Quote ref HAT1620/448.
