From 2006 to 2010, I was a councillor for Lee Green ward in the London Borough of Lewisham. During that time, I blogged regularly and in 2009 I won the Tim Garden Award for the Best Blog by a Liberal Democrat Holding Public Office. My blog posts from my term of office are archived here in case they prove of use to former constituents, or to those who share my annoyance with faulty street furniture
The deadline for comments on the closure of Burnt Ash Post Office is Wednesday (April 2nd)
I’ll be sending in the petition forms we’ve had returned, plus the online signatures gathered via our campaign website. We’ve had a fantastic response from local people – thanks so much to everyone who signed the petition and wrote to the Post Office to object to their plans. I’ll let you know what I hear back from the Post Office.
As I’ve said all along, the Post Office haven’t proved adept at listening to local communities in previous closure programmes – but we’re not going to let Burnt Ash Hill close without a fight. It’s a shame Lewisham’s Labour MPs all voted to back the closures in parliament
