Northbrook School – planning application submitted

From 2006 to 2010, I was a councillor for Lee Green ward in the London Borough of Lewisham. During that time, I blogged regularly and in 2009 I won the Tim Garden Award for the Best Blog by a Liberal Democrat Holding Public Office. My blog posts from my term of office are archived here in case they prove of use to former constituents, or to those who share my annoyance with faulty street furniture

As you might be aware, Northbrook School moved to the old Ennersdale School site in September in order to allow their old site on Taunton Road to be demolished and rebuilt.

A bit later than we expected, the planning application for the demolition and rebuild has now been submitted.   You can view it here.     Please do have a look and let the Council know what you think.   You can write to the Case Officer, Emma Talbot at Planning Department, Town Hall, Catford, SE6, or email planning {at} lewisham.gov(.)uk – quote reference DC/07/67730/X in any correspondence.   Feel free to copy your comments to me, too.

I am very concerned about the Northwood school extension, in particular the use of the Manor House Gardens park area for school PE and break times. I have read a number of articles online around this, but none appear to have a difinitive answer as to the extent of the use.

The park is centre for the local community and provides an invaluable resource for residence. I am wary about giving up any of the access to the park to the school. The lack of information to the extent of access makes me even more concerned.

    Hi Clive,

My understanding is that nothing’s been agreed as yet – the Council, the school and the Gardens User Group are still negotiating.

This isn’t considered to be part of the planning application, which will be determined separately.
