From 2006 to 2010, I was a councillor for Lee Green ward in the London Borough of Lewisham. During that time, I blogged regularly and in 2009 I won the Tim Garden Award for the Best Blog by a Liberal Democrat Holding Public Office. My blog posts from my term of office are archived here in case they prove of use to former constituents, or to those who share my annoyance with faulty street furniture
Paul, Sven and I spent this morning doing a walkabout around part of Lee Green Ward with Mark Agnew and Richard Cordery from Lewisham Homes. Mark’s Director of Property Services for Lewisham Homes, and Richard’s the Head of Responsive Repairs.
We took a look at:
- Old pram sheds and drying area on Effingham Road
- Road surface on Wimborne Close – resurfacing’s now completed, which was good to see
- A Council-owned property on Micheldever Road, where PVCu windows have been installed in contravention of the Conservation Area regulations
- A property on Southbrook Road which is being converted for use by a family whose kids have disabilities
- The two large blocks of flats on Southbrook which need attention to their front walls and the communal areas to the rear. We also discussed the possibility of installing proper entryphones in these blocks.
- And we paid a home visit to a tenant on Kimbolton Close
So a busy Friday morning for all of us! Mark and Richard are going to get back to your Councillor team with responses on the issues we pointed out to them.
We’re always happy to take up issues with Lewisham Homes (or other housing providers) on behalf of constitutents. We’re now having regular walkabouts with Lewisham Homes staff, so we can bring up ‘sticky’ issues with them – but many issues can be easily resolved by having a word with the right members of staff. Do let me know if there’s a housing issue I can help you with.
