From 2006 to 2010, I was a councillor for Lee Green ward in the London Borough of Lewisham. During that time, I blogged regularly and in 2009 I won the Tim Garden Award for the Best Blog by a Liberal Democrat Holding Public Office. My blog posts from my term of office are archived here in case they prove of use to former constituents, or to those who share my annoyance with faulty street furniture
Council estate residents in Lee have chosen Broomleigh Housing Association as their preferred partner for their proposed stock transfer.Residents of Leybridge Court, Merridale, Woodville Close, Rose Way, Silk Close and the Newstead Road estate have been drawing up plans to transfer their homes from the Council to a not-for-profit housing association. The steering group of Tenants & Residents Association officers chose Broomleigh as their preferred partner from a shortlist of three associations who were interested in working with them.
Subject to approval by the Mayor, Broomleigh will draw up an ‘offer document’ in consultation with the steering group, which will be put to a ballot of tenants before any transfer takes place.
